MUSIC IN THE COMMUNITY

Music is my passion; this community page features all things musical in Strathcona County (Sherwood Park and Fort Saskatchewan) YEG and St. Albert.  As a Sponsor of the Can-Con Music Series at Festival Place, an avid volunteer of Edmonton Folk Music Festival, and daily listener of CKUA radio, my hope is to share events that you will enjoy!  If I have missed any, please contact me and I will surely add it!

NORTHERN ALBERTA JUBILEE AUDITORIUM

Built in 1957, the Alberta Jubilee Auditoria were gifted to Alberta as two premiere performing arts venues. Over 60 years later, the Jubilee is continuing to make memories. The facilities are operated in partnership with the provincial Ministries of Alberta Infrastructure and Alberta Culture and Status of Women. In Edmonton, the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium is situated adjacent to the University of Alberta. A twin facility, the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, is located in Calgary adjacent to the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.

In 2004, an extensive renovation was undertaken to revitalize these community icons. Improvements focused on patron comfort and performance enhancements including acoustics, seating, climate control, and more. The venue has a new look, yet has maintained its historic charm. The facilities were reopened in September 2005 to commemorate Alberta’s 100th anniversary.

New Moon Folk Club

NEW MOON FOLK CLUB

The New Moon Folk Club is located on Treaty Six Territory, the traditional gathering place for many Indigenous peoples.

We honour and respect the history, language, ceremonies, and culture of the First Nations, Metis, and Inuit that call this territory home and are reminded that we are all treaty people.

The New Moon Folk Club is a not-for-profit society, led entirely by volunteers.

The New Moon Folk Club builds on the 30-year legacy of the Full Moon Folk Club, which decided to close in 2015. The club's revival has been a true community effort. We thank Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Mr. Doug Taylor, and Alley Kat Brewing Company for their financial support!
